Meet the Therapist

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

My name is Alyson, and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor professionally registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I have extensive experience supporting people who have been affected by anxiety, low mood, abuse, relationship issues, feeling stuck, bereavement, trauma and low self-esteem, etc.  I have also gained significant experience in supporting those who have been affected by the troubles in N. Ireland from PTSD, trauma, complex trauma and transgenerational trauma.

Many of us have times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed and have difficulty in coping. I believe everyone has the ability to change given the right conditions, environment and support. This starts from the moment you enter my therapy room where I offer a warm, caring and safe professional tailor approach unique to you.

I hold qualifications and I am accredited in the following areas:

  • Fd Degree in Integrative Counselling – Ulster University
  • Cert in Secondary Traumatic Stress and Prevention
  • Cert in Developmental Trauma
  • Cert in Psychological Trauma Studies
  • Internal Family System’s training

My Style of Therapy

As an integrative counsellor I can work in a way that is tailored to you, your needs and presenting issues.  I use various forms of talking therapies including humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT skills. I work ethically and ensure confidentiality is provided at all times! It is important I can help you to feel at ease – you can use our therapy sessions to talk about whatever you need to.  I will be listening to you carefully and supporting you to make sense of whatever it is you are feeling, enabling you to heal and move forward in whatever way that feels right for you.
