Meet the Therapist
Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Clare, I am a professional counsellor and provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore whatever has made you reach out for support. If you are seeking a greater understanding of yourself or want to explore a specific issue I will help guide you. Life brings many turning points and moments where we recognise the need for change, I will help you to navigate this to the best of my ability.
I trained as a counsellor later in career, having spent the first 20 years as a member of the emergency services. Through that work I gained capacity, courage and an appreciation of how life circumstances can impact on us. I know change is challenging and I admire you for taking this first step!
I have vast experience helping people heal from life challenges, including rebuilding after loss, anxiety, depression, challenging relationships, and general senses of dissatisfaction. Whatever you need support with, you are more than welcome in my therapy room.
Professional Qualifications
I hold qualifications in the following areas:
- Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling – Ulster University
- Level 4 Certificate in Counselling
- Mental Health First Aid
- Neurodivergent Training
- Safeguarding Adults Training
- Safeguarding Children Training
My Style of Therapy
I am an adult counsellor, trained in three modalities, Humanistic counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic counselling, I integrate the three styles but commence work from a person-centred perspective. That means you are at the centre of the counselling experience and helping you recover from how you felt when you reached out for help is at the core of our work, the theories and techniques are important, but they come second.
I work holistically to support clients, examining mind and body connection, strengthening your supports and gathering new skills. I believe in boundaries and self-worth and work practically to increase both.
