Meet the Therapist

Hello, my name is Deni and welcome to my profile. I provide counselling support, and specialist therapy to adults with eating disorders/issues, including – disordered or distressed eating, body image distress, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), Binge-eating Disorder and other specified feeding and eating disorders.

There can be many reasons why your relationship with food, weight, shape, and exercise starts to feel out of control. It can be a confusing and frightening time. You may worry and even experience an anxiety that your thoughts and behaviours are being judged. If your relationship with food, body weight, shape or exercise is causing you stress, it can cause pain to you physically, behaviourally and psychologically.

I will offer clarity and understanding of your current problem, going at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We will explore what is keeping your eating disorder/distressed eating and other behaviours active in your life. I will support you to deal with any anxiety or fear of change and help foster motivation to recover.  Recovery is not linear, and learning can occur from moments of relapse or challenges you may face.

Alongside my specialist eating disorder work, I also have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals including those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. Through my work in both educational and therapeutic settings, I’ve developed specialised strategies to support diverse learning styles and help individuals leverage their unique strengths.  I recognise that everyone’s needs and abilities are different and adjust accordingly.

My Style of Therapy

I offer a space for us both to remain curious, so we can explore what is driving the eating /body/exercise stress and consider what else may be impacting your current situation and work towards recovery.

I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement: and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship’.
