Meet the Therapist
Hello, my name is Orla. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, providing support to adults experiencing a range of difficulties.
You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in patterns that are difficult to understand or change. Thoughts and emotions can become intense or hard to manage, and this can impact you physically, emotionally and mentally. It can feel confusing, frustrating, and at times like you’re going in circles.
In our work together, my focus is to help bring clarity and understanding to what you’re experiencing, at a pace that feels safe for you. This can help you make sense of what has been going on and develop more compassion for yourself as you begin to understand the reasons behind the ways you cope. Therapy together is about developing awareness and understanding, rather than the often-familiar voice of judgement.
Professional Qualifications
I hold qualifications in the following areas:
- PG Diploma, High Intensity CBT Training
- PG Cert, Low Intensity CBT Training (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner)
- EMDR Foundation Training
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Training
- MSc Criminology & Criminal Justice
- BA Classical Studies and Philosophy
My Style of Therapy
I adapt sessions to meet individual sensory, cognitive and processing needs, and I integrate approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and EMDR to support clients in a way that works with their brain, not against it.
My approach is warm, collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practice. I provide a non-judgemental space where we can stay curious together. Therapy with me balances understanding past experiences and coping, with building practical skills, emotional regulation and a sense of compassion toward yourself.
