Panic Attacks
NI Counselling Treatment to help with Panic Attacks
At NI Counselling, we provide professional, personalised support for individuals experiencing panic attacks. Panic attacks can be overwhelming and frightening, often striking without warning and leaving individuals feeling out of control. Our experienced counsellors are here to help clients understand the root causes of their panic and develop strategies to manage and reduce the intensity of these episodes.
In a safe and confidential environment, we guide clients through identifying the triggers and patterns behind their panic attacks. Our therapeutic approach focuses on teaching effective coping techniques to help clients regain control during a panic attack. We also work with clients to address underlying issues, such as anxiety or stress, that may contribute to these episodes.
At NI Counselling, our counsellors work collaboratively with clients, helping them to build resilience, reduce the frequency of panic attacks, and regain confidence in their ability to navigate stressful situations. With compassionate care and expert guidance, we are dedicated to supporting our clients in finding relief and achieving emotional well-being.
What are Panic Attacks?
Panic attacks are sudden episodes of intense fear or discomfort that peak within minutes and include a variety of physical and cognitive symptoms. These episodes can be very distressing and might feel as though the person is losing control, having a heart attack, or even dying.
Panic attacks can occur unexpectedly without an obvious trigger, or they can be situationally bound, occurring in response to a specific stressor or phobia. They are a hallmark of panic disorder, but they can also occur in the context of other anxiety disorders, depression, or as a result of certain medical conditions or substance use.
Panic attacks typically reach their peak within 10 minutes and then subside, although some symptoms may linger for a longer period. The frequency and severity of panic attacks can vary widely among individuals.
