About Me

Hi, I'm Cara. I'm a client-centred, integrative therapist, credentialed with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), with 10 years' experience working in the field of mental health and wellbeing.

With a background in youth and community work, I'm truly passionate about supporting people through life changes and different stages of development, and I have extensive experience helping clients across wider communities deal with a range of issues, including stress, anxiety, trauma, confidence and self-esteem.

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion. For me, therapy isn't just about the issues that bring you through the door. I work with clients as a whole person, and I aim to simplify the information around the mind and body by incorporating awareness-raising and education into our sessions together. Nothing about how I work is one-size-fits-all. I tailor dialogue and treatment plans specifically to each individual's unique needs, so the pace and focus of our work is shaped around you.

In practice, this means our sessions are shaped around you rather than a fixed structure. I draw on integrative, person-centred ways of working, bringing in different tools and ideas as they're useful, rather than asking you to fit a single model. I often find that understanding a little about how the mind and body respond to stress or difficult experiences can, in itself, bring a real sense of relief, so I like to weave gentle psychoeducation into our conversations alongside the emotional work. My focus is always on helping you feel genuinely heard and understood, since that sense of being met without judgement is so often where real change begins.

I work with adults across a wide range of life circumstances, and I'm especially drawn to supporting people through periods of change and transition, whether that's a shift in identity, a new stage of life, a relationship ending, or simply the sense of not quite recognising where you've landed. I support clients with stress and anxiety, low mood, trauma, and difficulties with confidence and self-esteem, as well as the wider emotional impact that life changes and developmental stages can bring. Whatever has brought you to this point, you don't need to have it all figured out before we start.

Taking the first step in seeking a more fulfilling, happier life takes real courage, and I know that reaching out isn't always easy. Whatever stage of life you're at, or whatever has brought you here, I'm here to support you in that process, with respect, sensitivity and compassion, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
