About Me
Hi, I'm Jim. I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor registered with BACP. I've worked in health and social care for over 20 years, giving me a wide range of experience across counselling and support services.
Life can feel extremely complex and overwhelming at times. The impact of trauma in particular can have a real effect on our ability to process how we feel and manage our emotions day to day. That, in turn, can affect family relationships, our capacity to parent, our ability to connect with friends, and how we cope with the demands of work.
I started my career as a Social Worker and have built on this over the years with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychoanalytic Observation, and further training in autism support. Having a neurodiverse condition, or a suspected one, can make processing emotions and coping day to day even more difficult, and this is something I'm glad to bring additional understanding to where it's relevant, alongside the wider range of issues I support people with.
I offer a non-judgemental space to discuss and explore whatever is impacting your life. My integrative approach means I'm not tied to a single model. I draw on different techniques to support you in developing a better understanding of yourself and in finding more positive, sustainable ways of managing your emotions, whatever you're going through.
Taking the first step to reach out can feel daunting, but you don't have to face things alone. Whatever you're carrying, I'm here to listen, to walk alongside you, and to help you find your way forward at a pace that feels right for you.
