About Me
Hi, I'm Lorraine. I am an integrative counsellor who has worked in the field of mental health and crisis support for many years. I am passionate about offering a warm, supportive space where you can explore what is going on for you, at a pace that feels right. I believe that therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood and not judged , so the relationship we build together is always at the centre of our work.
I support adults through traditional talking therapy as well as experiential approaches, depending on what feels most meaningful and effective for you. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of modalities to ensure the therapy fits you rather than the other way around.
My approach is primarily person-centred, helping me to understand you as a whole person and tailor therapy to your individual needs. I use psychodynamic principles to make sense of how past experiences, patterns and relationships may be shaping your life now. I draw on CBT to help identify unhelpful thought patterns and build practical strategies , particularly useful for anxiety, low mood and challenges that benefit from structure. I also incorporate DBT skills to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance and healthier coping for moments that feel overwhelming. For those who connect with experiential or relational work, equine-assisted services may also be available. Across all of these methods, my aim is to remain flexible and responsive, so our work together always feels personal, meaningful and genuinely empowering.
